That was so much fun!

I just want to thank everybody who stopped by for my SITS day and made it extra special with encouraging comments!  I am still trying to catch up with all of you! So be patient if I haven't replied to you... I'll get to it!

Many thanks again!

Now... I just want to share a picture of my girls and my hubby... We went to a pumpkin patch and they had one of this "face in the hole" thingies for pictures... hubby got behind the "indian" structure... to have his picture taken but the girls decided to turn it into a kissing booth!

They sooo melt my heart! Today... is the 3 day of November... and I am thankful for... Family love!

What are you thankful for?

I'll oversing your praises! - and will eat some chicken!

Last night I went to choir rehearsal @ church, at some point the worship leader started talking about how we can sing a song basically with more "umph", everybody gave suggestions like "thinking about what you are singing and believing it, etc" well... I guess I got stuck on that... and thinking about the song I got so excited I got goosebumps... So, after discussing all the great tips and ideas to sing with more passion and better transmit the feeling of the song to the congregation we got up and started to sing... at some point, the emotion flooded me and just like I do when I talk and get excited I started yelling (LOL!) that's always been an issue for me when singing... too much emotion! when practicing way back when I learned to better control all that but it's been so long since I last sang in front of others or in a choir that I've lost practice of technique and stuff like that... so here we reached a part in the song that says:

"I am hope, I am peace, I am joy, I am rest,
I am your comfort and relief from your stress,
I am strength, I am faith, I am love, I am power
I am your freedom this very hour"

I got sooo into the song and not so into the singing that I was yelling! until I heard the leader say "wow! Don't oversing it" LOL! I was a little embarrassed because I had actually forgotten everyone was there....

But then ... by the time everything was done and when I left church look what I saw:

His creation was over-singing with colors just like I was with my voice ... :) I know I have to control my voice if I want to sing in a choir but I am happy I can over-sing for Him any time of the day!

And now... a recipe that's so good and easy it will make you sing:

Cayenne-Rubbed Chicken with Avocado Salsa (Perfect S for THM)
Original from Martha Stewart's Recipes

Ingredients

  • Coarse salt and ground pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breast halves, (6 to 8 ounces each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium red onion, finely diced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh lime juice
  • 1 Hass avocado, pitted and cut into chunks (to choose the perfect avocado click here )

Directions

  1. In a small bowl, combine 1 teaspoon salt, 1/4 teaspoon pepper, and cayenne; rub all over chicken.
  2. In a large skillet, heat oil over medium. Add chicken, and cook until browned on the outside and opaque throughout, 8 to 10 minutes per side.
  3. Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, combine onion and lime juice; set aside. Just before serving, fold avocado chunks into onion mixture; season with salt and pepper. Serve chicken topped with salsa.

Tuesday: Jokes, Quotes and interesting facts

Welcome to a new day in "The Coffee Shop", If you are a first time visitor, make yourself at home, relax and drink what you want... I am a coffee lover but you don't have to be one to enjoy a great time here and make it one of your favorite spots to just make friends and hopefully share or learn some recipes that we have around! Not everything in "The Coffee Shop" is about coffee.... our "Coffee Shop" is just a concept.... an "idea" we use as an excuse to get together!

But even when .... we can talk about anything and everything.... Tuesdays and Fridays are "Coffee Days"... and today is Tuesday so... get ready to enjoy some "jokes, quotes and facts" all about coffee!

Some quotes:

Do Lipton employees take coffee breaks? - Steven Wright

I like cappuccino, actually. But even a bad cup of coffee is better than no coffee at all. - David Lynch

I never drink coffee at lunch. I find it keeps me awake for the afternoon. - Ronald Reagan

Some silly jokes

"Here is your coffee sir! Exclusively from South America!" "Ah, that's what took you so long."

"Waiter, this coffee is cold". "Oh, I'm glad you told me. Iced coffee costs a dollar more."

"Waiter! Did you bring me coffee or tea?" "Can you tell the difference?" "Well...no...I can't" "Then it shouldn't really matter."

And some of the facts:

-Caffeine is on the International Olympic Committee list of prohibited substances. Athletes who test positive for more than 12 micrograms of caffeine per milliliter of urine may be banned from the Olympic Games. This level may be reached after drinking about 5 cups of coffee.(wow!)

- Turkish bridegrooms were once required to make a promise during their wedding ceremonies to always provide their new wives with coffee. If they failed to do so, it was grounds for divorce!(Crazy!!!)

So I hope you are enjoying your time at the Coffee Shop... Stay as long as you want! There's a lot of stuff to look around!

Tuesday: Jokes, Quotes and interesting facts

Happy Tuesday everyone! Thanks to the loyal readers, followers and visitors of "The Coffee Shop" for stopping by one more day!

As you know I only have time to post here... Just a reminder to please just be patient with me as I can't answer as much right now to the comments! I still love you and I hope strong friendships are formed not only with me (I've found great friends here!) but among all of you!

Today is Tuesday and here are some quotes, jokes and facts... all related to coffee:

Some funny quotes I found:

"Chocolate, men, coffee - some things are better rich!"

"If this is coffee, please bring me some tea;  but if this is tea, please bring me some coffee." - Abraham Lincoln

"Way too much coffee.  But if it weren't for the coffee, I'd have no identifiable personality whatsoever. " ~David Letterman

So....  I think we already got some good laughs with our quotes... right?

Now, some interesting facts:

  • Drinking a single cup of coffee that has been brewing for 20 minutes provides the body with 300 phytochemicals which act as antioxidants and stay in the body for up to a month.
  • One coffee tree yields less than half a kilo of coffee per year.
  • A coffee tree lives for between 60 and 70 years.
Happy Tuesday! AND DO NOT FORGET Coffee Friday... Invite your friends to have "a cup of coffee" with us!

Tuesday: Jokes, Quotes and interesting facts

Good morning dear friends! I am sorry I haven't been able to visit as many bogs as I always do.... and of course I haven't been able to comment either.... I've been really busy here! My Google Reader has hundreds of unread items! It's been really busy here and with a growing girl things get more demanding.... I've been trying to dedicate more time to her so I will have to really schedule my blogging time! I think you will see me around more during the evenings... Let's see how that works! But The Coffee Shop is open 24/7 so you can grab a cup of coffee anytime and stop by to see what's new, read, comment and just have a nice time!

Today is Tuesday and as you know last week we started dedicating this day to jokes, quotes and facts about coffee...

So here we go:

Some Quotes:
-------------------

"A cup of coffee shared with a friend is happiness tasted and time well spent"

"Caffeine isn’t a drug, it’s a vitamin !!"

"Sleep is a symptom of caffeine deprivation."

"I don’t have a problem with caffeine. I have a problem without caffeine."

--------------------

Did you know...?

The coffee bean is actually a seed inside a bright red berry.

Coffee is the 2nd. most traded commodity on earth.... (Now I wonder what the first one is! )

-----------------

Let's laugh...

"At the data-entry company where I work, the other operators and I share a coffeepot. One morning I took it into the ladies room to fill it with water. Then I began preening in the mirror, brushing my hair and reapplying some makeup. I didn't realize how long I'd been until someone slid a note under the door. "You win," it read. Any ransom demand will be met. Just release the coffeepot."

-----------------

Have a great Tuesday!

Quotes, jokes, interesting facts about coffee... Every Tuesday!

First of all... I want to thank everyone for the "Get well" wishes... I am still sick but I knew I had to post something and make comments on other blogs because "The Coffee Shop" seemed to be a little slow... So, thanks and please be patient if I don't comment back right away...

Now to our funny Tuesday... I hope this becomes a "Tuesday tradition" for everyone! A cup of coffee and some laughter to start the day doesn't sound bad at all right?

---------

I met someone in the elevator who was drinking coffee and complaining about how coffee made him nervous. I said "Why don't you quit drinking coffee?" He said "Because if I didn't have the shakes, I wouldn't get any exercise at all."

-----------

Do not forget our "Coffee Friday" I thought I would have many pictures by now....

By the way... I just want to share I am SOOOOO Happy! It is finally snowing here!

The Legacy!

I was just watching a Movie "The Family Man" with Nicolas Cage and Tea Leoni, my husband rented it because I insisted on watching it, I just love that movie! We really enjoyed it! I hope we can watch it every Christmas! Anyway, we were drinking coffee and eating cheesecake and my baby wanted to have some coffee! She would get close to the cup and smell it! I kept saying "No baby, you are too little" but she kept trying and trying! once the cup was left empty on the coffee table she immediately grabbed it and ... well... here she is:

Of course the cup had no coffee in it... but she tried to even lick the cup! I guess she will be a Coffee Lover one day! I am a proud mommy!
