Feeling like spring....

Hello my dear friends! I hope you are relaxed, sitting in front of your computer, hopefully drinking a cup of coffee and ready to enjoy YOUR time.... I am glad you chose this blog as one of your favorite spots to visit! Make yourself comfortable and just forget about everything else....

Let's talk about spring today.... I just got my newest issue of the LIVING magazine (which I love) and it's great to start reading about gardening and all those beautiful SPRING topics! (By the way, is it just me or the magazine is getting thinner and thinner and with more ads in it? .... Just wondering!) What are the plans for your garden this year? Any special or new projects in mind? Hubby and I are thinking about getting rid of a planter we have with rose bushes.... the roses aren't that beautiful anymore (those bushes were here before he bought the house about 5 yrs. ago) and we feel it would be a great spot for a small vegetable garden. I would love to have tons of flowers in the front of the house... I'd like to start a perennial garden too! Annuals are adorable and usually more colorful but there is a Flower Farm where my mother-in-law used to work and they have a great selection of flowers and I've seen some that would be great for us...

I am hoping to have a beautiful garden this year... and I plan on using coffee grounds as fertilizer (and to keep bugs and plant diseases away) ... did you know you could use coffee for your garden? Yes you can, you can find tons of articles on the web about it... and here is a previous post I wrote about it last year: click here

(As you can see there is the side area which we've previous used to plant some vegetables, but the space is too reduced)

We already got rid of all these - including the ones on the side (there is always one or two tulips trying to come back) here is where I want to plant MANY MANY flowers

It's going to be fun!!! And coffee will be there to help us!!! I hope I will have pictures of the finished project soon!

Do you love drinking coffee? What about sharing your coffee with your garden?

I can already feel the first signs of spring... have you heard the birds chirping in the morning lately? I was missing those sounds so much! And I am so ready for gardening this year! I can't wait to start planting some tomatoes, cucumbers, bell peppers and hot peppers.

But did you know that you can actually use coffee for a beautiful, healthy garden? Yes, coffee works as a natural pesticide and fertilizer, you can combine the grounds with eggshells and surround your plants with the mix or you can spray your plants with some coffee/water solution.

Coffee is great for the plants because it is rich in nitrogen, which is essential in helping plants to grow.

Coffee is also excellent for roses, it makes them more colorful and even larger.

So if you want a beautiful garden... share your coffee with your plants, do not discard the wet grounds, filters and bags, they can help you protect your garden even from insect infestation just by sprinkling your plants with the grounds, or just add the filters and tea bags in your compost piles (they disintegrate very easily)

So, if you want a better garden this year... Use coffee!

Ya puedo sentir los primeros signos de la primavera...has escuchado a los pajaros cantar en la manana ultimamente? Cuanto extranaba esos sonidos! Estoy mas que lista para comenzar a trabajar en mi jardin! Ya no puedo esperar mas para comenzar a plantar tomates, pepinos, pimientos y distintos chiles... No se... veremos que mas podemos plantar...

Pero, sabias que puedes usar cafe para tener un jardin hermoso y saludable? Si, el cafe funciona genial como un pesticida y fertilizante natural, puedes combinarlo con cascarones de huevo y rodear tus plantas con el o rociarlas con una solucion a base de agua y cafe.

El cafe es magnifico para las plantas porque es rico en nitrogeno, el cual es esencial en ayudar al crecimiento de las plantas.

El cafe tambien es buenisimo para las rosas, las hace mas coloridas y aun mas grandes.

Asi que si quieres un jardin hermoso, no desheches los filtros ya usados de cafe, te pueden ayudar a proteger tu jardin aun de una infestacion de insectos simplemente si rocias los asientos de cafe antes de regar tus plantas, o agrega los filtros con los residuos de cafe a tu composta (se desintegran muy facilmente)

Asi que si quieres un mejor jardin este 2009, Usa cafe!
