Keeping our Lights Shining Bright!

 Hi everybody! I promise I'll try to visit some blogs today! It's been really busy here... and then after the horrible tragedy in Connecticut I haven't been feeling like blogging... Such a horrible thing! It's made me sick to my stomach... My prayers with the families of the victims. May God's surpassing peace flood their hearts.
 
Today is a new day but even when it's new... nothing will be the same...  what happened in that school, may it be something that we always remember, to use it for something good, if possible... hug more our children, kiss them every time, avoid holding grudges, focus on what matters most...

This Christmas hold your loved ones tight! Don't focus on gifts but focus on Jesus, on His love, eternal, perfect, pure! And rejoice in that love with those around you! The events made me want to turn my Christmas lights off... I thought: "how can we be celebrating in the middle of so much pain?" But how can we not? When our hearts ache most we need to remember and celebrate that Jesus was born! in the darkest hour His light continues to shine! His light came to this dirty, painful world that didn't even want Him but that so desperately needed Him... and we continue to need Him today, my Christmas lights are shining to remember that! not just for "decoration" ... Let your lights shine this Christmas... not to represent "wealth, parties and good times" but to reflect on the fact that this dark world needs Him, and if we don't let our lights shine... who will?

Trip to Wonderland!!!

We were invited to a birthday party of a super cute two year old girl yesterday and I loved the decorations... The theme was "Alice in Wonderland" in this case was "Emma" (that's the name of the birthday girl) and I thought I would take pictures and share with you in case you're looking for inspiration for a birthday party!

The birthday girl's mommy MADE IT ALL! I think she did a really great job!! She only ordered the cake (which by the way, got raves!) it was very neat! You truly felt like you got the chance to be at the "Tea Party" from Alice in Wonderland! very cool! I hope you like it and found some inspiration for yourself too!

Fall decorations - Apartment Appropriate!

Hello friends! I just finished my first cup of coffee of the day... and I am excited to start a new week here with all of you!

I hope you had a great and refreshing weekend! I sure enjoyed it... and last night was great because we had friends over for coffee and cake... It sure is awesome to enjoy the company of great friends! So blessed!

Today, and continuing with the "Fall Theme" I thought I would share the small decorations I JUST placed here in our home... We live in an apartment for now, so our decor needs to stay simple to not overcrowd the place... Just a few touches that show "It is Fall" in here!  (plus lots of baking in the kitchen) to create a great atmosphere!

 So... here are the few things I made, with very inexpensive materials and some other items I already had here at home!

1. For the table: I just bought a single, pumpkin scented candle, for 1.00 USD and a small candle holder for the same price! I also bought a bouquet of artificial fall leaves to use for all the little decorations I made and glued them to the candle holder. Ideal for a smaller table!

2. On the kitchen counter: I bought a bag with assorted, natural, miniature pumpkins  ($2.98), used some of the leaves of the same bouquet I bought and also used the net where the pumpkins were packaged for a more "country/farm" style... I placed it all on this tray that I already had (which originally held bigger rectangular candles)

 3. I don't know where this one will end up but I basically just added the rest of the assorted miniature pumpkin thingies in this vase which I love it because it is just a smooth, simple cilinder, which can also be filled with walnuts, pecans, etc... or cinnamon sticks, or wheat... whatever you'd like to give a "fall" look... I use it for flowers during spring and summer! and taped some leaves on the bottom of the vase.

I don't know if this one will stay on the counter, but we'll see

 So there you have it... just very simple and very, very inexpensive ideas to make your own fall decorations... Especially if you have an apartment or a smaller house where you don't feel like big decorations would go well!

POW, CRASH, WHOOSH!

Happy Saturday everybody! Short post just to share the sound signs I made to decorate some birthday cupcakes:

As you can see the "theme" is "Comic Super-hero" ... and it's very cool! The party will be on the 23rd. and I will be making the cupcakes and the birthday cake for the birthday boy who will be turning 5! ... These signs will go "randomly" on some of the cupcakes (the cupcakes will be arranged on a black cupcake cardboard stand) and I'll share the finished "set up" once it's all done... :) I am having fun making it all!

Bicycles hanging from a wall!

Good day dear friends... I am sorry I haven't been posting these last few days but it's been very happily busy here!

But I still read and enjoy your comments! Thank you everyone for reading and commenting ;) You all make my day!

I went to a small town close to the city where I live yesterday with hubby (he had 1/2 day off) and it was a blast... As part of our "tour" we stopped at a Local Coffee Shop, it was really nice, the decor was more like a "personal library/studio/living room" but... hanging from the walls there were... BICYCLES... Yes, bicycles and it made me think how we can basically use "anything" as part of the decoration of a certain place... Have you seen anything too weird? as decor? Have you ever used anything that people thought it was crazy as an object of decoration? Have you ever had an idea of something that would look cool but it was too out of the ordinary?
